I made this chess and checkers set out of scrap maple and poplar for my friend as a wedding present. I cut out each chess piece on a scroll saw after making a blank by filling a mold box with resin and wood scraps. This is also where I learned about the very important concept of resin overheating. So much resin so close together and only separated by foamcore was not a great combination. But even with the resulting bubbles, I still love how it turned out in the end.
